About the Author

I am an avid fan of science-fiction and fantasy across all mediums of storytelling. This is my first foray into writing a novel but this project has lingered in my mind, percolating for a year at least. In that time the future I imagine has taken on a solid shape.

I grew up all over the world and I wanted to infuse this speculative future with the multicultural perspective I acquired along the way.  I studied economics at university just after the economic crisis of 2008. I admit to being moulded by an academic syllabus that was starting to question many of its founding principles. That self reflection was central to the idea of the Church of Kolob. A faith that was doggedly adapting and testing itself according to the scientific method (with a few bits of Mormon cosmology guiding Occam's razor), a faith I could see myself (an atheist) taking an active part in.

I love nature and I was a ski instructor once upon a time. Nothing beats settling down by the fire after a hard days skiing with a copy of The Dispossessed or Dune. While I know it is ambitious to try to emulate Ursula Le Guin or Frank Herbert, I believe that they themselves would agree that speculative fiction is an undertaking that requires a certain sense of mad ambition. The greatest works of science fiction leave readers asking themselves meaningful and difficult questions. Posing solutions and problems to eventualities that may or may not occur, giving readers the chance to think on a grander scale.
